The Faculty of Engineering Management of Poznan University of Technology continues traditions and good practices of industrial organization and management initiated before the Second World War by such Polish engineers as Karol Adamiecki, Piotr Drzewiecki, Edwin Hauswald and Zygmunt Rytel. Currently, three institutes operate within the Faculty's structure: the Institute of Safety and Quality Engineering, the Institute of Logistics and the Institute of Management and Computing Systems. Each of them is responsible for one field of study - Safety Engineering, Logistics and Management Engineering respectively. In addition to teaching, the Faculty conducts research and actively cooperates with business. For years, the Faculty of Engineering Management has been top-ranked by Rzeczpospolita daily and Perspektywy monthly in terms of functioning and teaching.
The Faculty’s mission is to generate new knowledge by creatively combining engineering sciences with management sciences and teaching in the area of logistics, safety engineering and engineering management, also in a continuous mode. This is effected by scientific, research and development work carried out in cooperation with the labour market focusing on sustainable development. The Faculty’s vision is to build a brand of a valued team of experts, an important research and teaching unit of Poznan University of Technology, recognizable in Poland and abroad and a sought-after partner in research, development and teaching projects guaranteeing a high scientific level and quality of education.
In 2018, the Committee for the Evaluation of Scientific Units awarded the Faculty category A, which proves a high level of scientific achievements, including publications, scientific potential, material outcomes of scientific activities (financial results, application of research results) and their impact on the functioning of society and the economy. The Faculty of Engineering Management provides degree programmes in the field of social sciences, in the discipline of management and quality science. In its teaching offer adapted to the national and international labour market, the Faculty offers full-time and part-time engineer's and master's studies in the fields of: Engineering Management, Logistics and Safety Engineering. It also offers full-time programmes conducted in English: Engineering Management first-cycle, Managing Enterprise of the Future and Logistics Systems second-cycle. The education offer meets the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015, evidenced by the Quality Management System adopted by the Faculty in 2010.
The Faculty of Engineering Management also offers numerous postgraduate programmes, courses and training sessions. An important aspect of tailoring the education offer to market needs are systematically organized meetings with the Business Council, during which representatives of enterprises provide valuable comments on the expectations and level of preparation of the Faculty's graduates. Students at the Faculty of Engineering Management are actively involved in science clubs, student organizations and the work of Poznan University of Technology Students' Union. These activities allow students to practise teamwork and acquire organizational skills. As part of international cooperation, the Faculty of Engineering Management participates in the ERASMUS+ programme, exchange projects with China and Peru and international exchange of IAESTE technical university students. The Faculty is also an active member of the European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management (ESTIEM) network.
